Banner Corp is a bank holding company. It wholly owns one subsidiary bank, Banner Bank. The Bank's primary business is that of traditional banking institutions, accepting deposits and originating loans in locations surrounding its offices in Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho and Utah. Banner Bank also actively participates in the secondary loan markets, engaging in mortgage banking operations largely through the origination and sale of one to four family residential loans.

Its subsidiary, NW Natural, operates through the natural gas distribution segment, which purchases and distributes natural gas through which operates in Oregon and southwest Washington. The company operates in one reportable business segment, which is NW Natural's local gas distribution business and is referred to as the NGD segment. The company generates its revenue from residential, commercial, and industrial customers, the majority of which are in Oregon. Residential and commercial customers account for the vast majority of profitability.
